Today is my first day on your site, so maybe my question has been covered and I just haven't seen it yet. If Cole's kidney problems are caused by protein, could he be put on the same diet as people with PKU? Just a thought--and it probably isn't new--but I at least had to try!

Give that brave boy the biggest hug and kiss for me. You guys are amazing for doing everything you can to make your baby safe and well. What ever I can do to help dont ever be afraid to ask. I have three babies of my own and your sons story touches me deeply. He is a beautiful boy and he is very lucky to have you guys as parents. Dont ever doubt what you have done or will do with or for him. Thank you for sharing his story with us and I will be sure to continue spreading it to people I know and so on. Best of luck to you all.

I read with my heart filled with compassion for what you are all going through as it so reminds me, in many ways, of what we went through almost 35 years ago with our son Joseph. Cole has some very different problems but the doctors, meds, travels and all that involves brings back many memories. Our son is in a group home today and unfortunately very developmentally delayed and still seizuring but he is happy and well taken care of. Today there is so much more out there for you and your son Cole. I will continue to pray for you all as you certainly can't get through day to day without faith and trust in the Lord. I think of Cole so often and you as his loving parents, and he is very blessed. May you continue to have the courage and strength to take it one day at a time and may Cole continue to progress despite all the challenges. God bless.

My son is 1 month old and we just received the same duplication results as Cole...although no one seems to know what it means. Cole is such a cutie and I wish you continued progress and hopefully some answers on your upcoming trip.

You and your family are definitely in my prayers that God would continue to bring into your life the very best Medical attention for your precious little one, Cole. He is beautiful and I am so moved by your story. I am so glad of the process that you have already seen in Cole and pray it continues. Blessings upon you and your family. Dearest Cole, You are such a joy. I know things are tricky and you've had a lot of tests but hang in there. God is going to do great things through you. I've enjoyed reading about your interactions and great successes and how you're able to make your mom & dad shout with excitement! I know that you're bringing joy to the various Drs, Nurses, EEG techs and everyone around you...I used to do EEG's at FAHC and working with kids always brightened my day. Way to go pulling off the 4 leads - I know it was more work for everyone but good for you, you're getting strong! Your mom and dad have probably learned this by now but oil (veggie, olive, baby, etc) will work well to get the glue out of your hair. You are valuable, priceless, and a true gift from God. May he give you & your family the strength and comfort for each day and wisdom and knowledge to the doctors who are trying to help. With love & prayers for abundant blessings throughout this journey. ~Hillary

Hi Hanna, The audiology appointments for little ones are really amazing, just like the visual acuity tests are. It's completely amazing what they can measure in those who are nonverbal yet. Good luck with the MRI. I hope that things settle down in a good way for you all. If not just keep putting one foot in front of the other ... somehow we always make it through the rough patches.

Hanna and Chris, My parents were given this poem which hung on our wall forever. My parents were excellent with my brother and making sure they gave him the best life he could possibly have. When I read your stories about everything that you do for Cole it reminds me of my amazing parents. Cole is your very special gift from Heaven and he was given to you two because the two of you can handle it. If you ever need anything I am always around. HEAVEN'S SPECIAL CHILD Author presently unknown A meeting was held quite far from earth, Itâ??s time again for another birth. Said the angels to the Lord above; This special child will need much love His progress may be very slow, Accomplishments he may not show. And heâ??ll require extra care, From the folks he meets down there, He may not run or laugh or play, His thoughts may seem quite far away. In many ways he wonâ??t adapt, and heâ??ll be known as handicapped. So letâ??s be careful where he is sent, we want his life to be content. Please, Lord, find the good friends who, will do a special job for you. They will not realize it right away, the leading role theyâ??re asked to play. But with this child sent from above, comes stronger faith and richer love. And soon they will know the privileges given, In caring for their gift from Heaven. Their precious charge, so meek and mild, in Heavenâ??s very special child.

Thanks so much everyone for all of you encouragement and kind words! It means so much to us!!! Its nice to know so many people are rooting for Cole!!! No prob Laurie. When Cole is on the floor and he kicks his legs or pushes up he doesn't move. With the incline he slides a little. So it is to teach him that he can make himself move! Thanks again everyone!!! We love you!

Phew. I am catching my breath after that read! BREATHE!!!! You did great. Off to a good start. All that belly time kicked up reflux in Kyli so we had to adapt accordingly. We invested in the gerber baby cloth diapers for great aborption burp clothes. Also- try a bandana around his head to help him slide better and protect skin. He'll look cool. Rome was not built in a day. Pace yourself. Do the best you can and rember to have FUN. There MUST be JOY in your day.
